About Me

I'm Erin King and I don't really feel like royalty. An 18 year old, college bound, insecure girl. I have done theater since I was 13, however I did one show many years beforehand. The shows I've been in are Peter Pan, Anything Goes, Treasure Island, Music Man, Mousetrap, Ah, Wilderness, Annie, Peter Pan (again), Once On This Island, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Julius Caesar, The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, MacBeth, and Caucasian Chalk Circle. I will save myself the trouble of listing all of my roles. I live in both Horton Hall, and New Haven, Connecticut. I was born in Fort Wayne Indiana. I like coffee, however I put myself on a diet due to health concerns.

Ever since I was seven I have been extremely obsessed with cats. I enjoy watching cat videos when I'm bored. I have a cat name Lucy, but I call her Lucyfur. I almost went to a college just because I could bring her with me and she could live in my dorm. Which probably would have been a bad idea. I spend a lot of my free time scrolling through Instagram, sending my best friend cat videos and pictures. I also have made my own cat an Instagram.

Another fun fact is that I am working my way towards an equity card, with 6 points out of 50 earned. This began this summer, during my several weeks working in a professional company. I had a really amazing mentor, her name is Gracy and she played the nurse. To this day we message, and get dinner together.

My final important fact about myself is that I sometimes struggle with certain topics. These sometimes include death or child loss. It is just a personal issue that I can't handle that type of topic. I can usually deal with it, however I do struggle on the inside.
I'm taking this course both because I have all my art credits, and because I love acting. Most of my interests are Shakespearean, however I enjoy being in shows that touch on real life issues. My favorite non-shakespeare show that I have been in is Ah, Wilderness. I played the mother, Essie Miller. I enjoyed being a crucial part in the main characters development.
My biggest hope for this course is by the end, to have my audition taped for the scholarship in college. This scholarship would help with the financial part of college. It would also make theater easier and more satisfying if I knew that my acting was good enough to receive a scholarship for it. I also hope to gain more appreciation for non-shakespearean shows.
