Monologue Reflection 2
The thought of having to write a monologue is normally daunting for many people. This includes me, however I had an idea that stuck with me and would not let go. The writing process was difficult for the main reason that it is challenging to get your thoughts out in a way that makes sense to the people around you. I found, once I had successfully written my piece, that memorization came much easier to me. This would be because I had written it and because it was very personal and unforgettable. While the viewers may not know who the monologue is about, it did something for me that I would not have gotten through just doing another monologue written by someone I do not know. I found blocking this also came naturally. The "out of body" experience I wanted to achieve ended up how I wanted it to. I also was not expecting myself to edit the monologue to have the ending it did, but that just gave the piece even more reality and honesty. Overall I should have spent more time on getting memorization down, but after a run or two with the script I feel that I was successful and accomplished exactly what I was hoping to.
