Reflection on Silent Movie
As a group, our movie turned out very well put together and coherent. However there were many times where I was unsure of how well it would work out. Given our group issue with deadlines, it was difficult when we lost so much time for filming and planning when we were absent. I was a part of this, but it definitely set us back. The ways we could have improved are in our stage presence and ability to express emotions in a non-verbal and over-dramatized way. In a silent movie, over-dramatizing your face and body is the only way you can truly express what is going on. What we collectively did well were our story line and the video editing. I wish that we had been able to add more text and music to the film. There are many awkward moments in it where the music just randomly cuts out with no warning at an inconvenient time. If I had video editing capabilities I definitely could have been more hands on in the editing process, but sadly I am not. By the end, I started to regret the plot we chose because it has been done so many times, it is basically the cliqué silent movie. It's difficult to come up with stories, especially in a group because everyone wants something else and it takes forever to come to a single agreement on what type of movie you should do and it gets super stressful. Our costumes were also so basic. Black and blue, hardly and kind of variation in our dress except for Elena's disguise in the beginning. I am glad we did this however, because it is important to figure out what you like and dislike in the acting world. For me acting is all in the words and emotions, and without the words I feel powerless and useless.
